Handcrafted Opame / Amitabha Buddha Statue - The Buddha of Boundless Light
Description: Bathe your space in the peaceful, illuminating energy of Opame (Amitabha Buddha). Revered as the Buddha of Boundless Light and Infinite Life, he represents the transformation of worldly desire and attachment into pure, discriminating wisdom. Opame sits in the traditional full lotus posture (Vajrasana) of deep meditation. His identity is clearly distinguished from other Buddhas by his highly specific hand gesture. Anchoring your environment with Opame’s deeply serene presence is a profound way to inspire ultimate tranquility, making it a perfect focal point for a meditation altar, yoga room, or quiet living space.
Symbolism & Meaning:
The Dhyana Mudra: Unlike Buddhas that have one hand touching the earth or holding a plant, Opame holds both hands resting evenly in his lap in the Dhyana Mudra (the gesture of absolute meditation). His palms face upward, with the right hand resting lightly over the left, and the tips of the thumbs touching to form a triangle. This perfectly symmetrical gesture symbolizes the intense, undisturbed concentration required to achieve enlightenment.
The Alms Bowl (Optional depending on the specific casting): In many depictions, an alms bowl (Patra) rests upon his upturned palms, symbolizing his monastic vows and the emptiness of all phenomena.
The Attire: He is depicted wearing the simple, unadorned patchwork robes of a fully ordained monk, symbolizing complete detachment from worldly ego and materialistic grasping.
Craftsmanship & Material: This statue is cast from durable Copper and features a hand-applied, darkened antique finish to highlight the intricate details of the Opame’s robes and serene facial expression. Please note: This is a hollow-cast copper item, making it sturdy yet light enough to easily move.
Ideal Placement: Traditionally placed inside a Choesham in a pooja hall or a meditation space, ideally at eye level or higher, and never directly on the floor.
